Soft Board

Softboard is a material made from wood fibers. These fibers contain the natural substance lignin causing the fibers to stay together. There is no extra glue added. From the wet fibers sheets are made. The boards are dried without being pressed.

Softboards are generally used as insulating boards due to their thermal and acoustic properties. Softboards are manufactured under heat and pressure by using the “wet process”, i.e. having a fibre moisture content of more than 20 % at the forming stage. They range in density from ≥ 230 kg/m³ to 400 kg/m³. By incorporating additives certain properties can be improved, e.g. fire resistance, moisture resistance.

Soft boards are a class of engineered wooden fibreboards. Its main qualities include low density, light weight and durable. This makes the board very easy to work with and to manipulate for an extensive range of purposes.
